TROPENTAG 2023 – September 20-22 – Berlin

Competing pathways for equitable food systems transformation: trade-offs and synergies

This year’s TROPENTAG is organized by the Leibniz-Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) in cooperation with the Humboldt University at Berlin. It will take place Sept. 20 – 22, 2023 in the main building of HU Berlin and online.

TROPENTAG is a development-oriented and interdisciplinary conference. It deals with issues of rural development, resources and environmental protection, agricultural production, forestry, fisheries, food processing, and feeding a growing world population. Against the backdrop of the Sustainable Development Goals, this year’s conference will discuss various transformation pathways for the transition to sustainable food systems. The Tropentag invites contributions from scientists, students and experts, who study technical solutions (e.g. Sustainable Intensification, climate-smart agriculture, (bio)fortified crops) as well as alternative approaches (e.g. agroecology, alternative food networks, long food Movement) in the context of international rural development. Young scientists are especially encouraged to present their research projects and results.

The 2023 participating center of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) is the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).
